Modular Payloads and the Software-Defined Force

Hardware-agnostic command software is the only sustainable answer to the drone-payload Cambrian explosion.

The pace of payload innovation — EO/IR, SAR, EW, kinetic, logistics — has overtaken the procurement cycle of any single airframe. A modular BMS that abstracts the asset from the effect is the only way to keep pace.

KhanBMS exposes every asset as a capability bundle: sensors, effectors, endurance, signature. The mission planner composes effects from capability sets, not from tail numbers.

When a new payload arrives in theater, it is integrated by manifest, not by software rebuild. The force becomes software-defined in the same way that radios became software-defined two decades ago.
