Joint Tactical Radio System/ JTRS
U.S. DoD program that established the software-defined radio and waveform portability framework.
Definition
JTRS produced the family of software-defined tactical radios and the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) that allows waveforms to be ported across vendor hardware. Although the original program reorganized into individual product offices, the JTRS waveform portfolio (SRW, WNW, MUOS, HMS) and SCA framework remain the U.S. baseline for software-defined tactical communications.
