Distributed C2

Human-in-the-Loop

Control pattern requiring explicit human authorization for each consequential action.

Definition

Human-in-the-Loop requires a person to authorize each consequential action — typically every weapons release. It is the default U.S. and allied posture for lethal autonomy and the policy baseline that distributed C2 software must enforce regardless of available automation.
